This is the 3rd version of the same story. The first version, the 1920 film The River`s End starring Lewis Stone in the dual role, appears to be a lost film. The second, the 1930 `River`s End`, had Charles Bickford in the 2 roles.

Long marriages in Hollywood were a rarity but the main characters in this film defied that reputation. Dennis Morgan was married only once, his marriage lasted 61 years until his death. Victor Jory was likewise married only once & his marriage lasted 50 years until his wife`s death. The female lead in this film, Elizabeth Inglis, also married only the once & her marriage lasted 60 years until her husband`s death. Actress Sigourney Weaver is one of their 2 daughters. George Tobias never married.
